Monaco’s Office of International Cooperation & Inclusive Business Camp

From 16 to 21 November, our partner the French Development Agency [Agence Française de Développement, AFD] organised the Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC) in Marseille. This training programme aimed at African Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME), received financial support from the Government of Monaco’s Office of International Cooperation.

SMEs that benefited from this high-level training included 30 from countries that are partners of the Office of International Cooperation, such as Senegal, Mauritania and Madagascar. Thus, they were able to chat to experts in impact investing and, through speed pitching, they met potential financial partners such as Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P), an impact investing group, which is also a partner of the Office of International Cooperation.

Impact investing is a modern socio-economic cooperation tool, which consists of investing in small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries and supporting them by providing capital to address economic, social, environmental and governance issues, before withdrawing partially and becoming a minority shareholder. It is an excellent tool for supporting the local entrepreneurial sector (SDG 8), which favours job creation and the valorisation of human capital by supporting talented people and start-ups.
