World immunisation week – from 24th to 30th April 2019

Immunisation week kicked off on Wednesday 24th April. As Nelson Mandela recalled, “Life or death for a young child too often depends on whether he or she is born in a country where vaccines are available or not”.

Vaccine – Oral immunisation of a child as part of a project supported by the Office of International Cooperation

Since 2017, the Government of Monaco, through its Office of International Cooperation (DCI), has been a partner of the Alliance GAVI, an organisation whose purpose is to improve access to immunisation in the developing world.
In 2019, Monaco is supporting the Alliance in order to enable children in Burkina Faso, a partner country of the Monegasque Cooperation, to be immunised against rotavirus, the leading cause of severe gastroenteritis in young children.
The Monegasque Cooperation is keen to help improve equitable global immunisation coverage, so that nobody is left out.
For the reader’s information, 20% of children in the world are not immunised.
