The NGO Bel Avenir launches a campaign for the distribution of birth certificates

The NGO Bel Air is organising the distribution of birth certificates for beneficiaries who do not have them. The project forms part of a school enrolment campaign funded by the Office of International Cooperation of the Principality of Monaco.

The NGO Bel Avenir took care of all the necessary procedures in order to allow each child to receive their "right to an identity". The distribution took place on 14 July 2018, at the NGO Bel Avenir Tuléar’s Centre d’Art et de Musique in the morning, and in the commune of Belalanda Toliara II in the afternoon, with the compulsory presence of the parents.

In order to achieve this, surveys were carried out.  Indeed, the leaders collected the following data from the children and parents involved: the child’s first name(s) and surname, their date of birth, the names of their parents and their home address. All of this was organised in order to facilitate research in the commune to find out whether the child was properly registered or not.

This operation was organised so as to ensure the future of these children, to enable them to be enrolled in a school, to sit official exams and to have a national identity number, in other words to become an active citizen.

In Tuléar I, 197 children had a birth certificate, and 174 had one in the commune of Belanlada Toliara II.
