International Day of the Girl Child - 11th October 2018

International Day of the Girl Child: the Monegasque Cooperation is keen to turn the spotlight on INSAF which strives to protect girls in Morocco.

Tens of thousands of young Moroccan girls are exploited as “little maids” and denied the right to an education. Thanks to the efforts of a group of 34 Moroccan NGOs, including INSAF, a new law came into force on 2nd October 2018 setting the minimum age for entry into domestic work at 18 years.

Since 2017, the Government of Monaco has been supporting a return to school programme for these young girls, specifically in the Marrakech – Safi region, one of the poorest areas in the country.
